Lollapalooza and Other Festivals -
Conceived and created in 1991 by Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, Lollapalooza is an annual music festival featuring heavy metal, alternative rock, hip hop, and punk rock bands, dance and comedy performances, and craft booths. Lollapalooza ran annually until 1997, and was revived in 2003. It has also provided a platform for non-profit and political groups. Lollapalooza has featured a diverse range of bands and has helped expose and popularize alternative rock groups. This year’s headliners include Lady Gaga, Green Day and a re-formed Soundgarden.Other festivals in August are the Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival, OZZfest, Mile High Music Festival and the New England Country Music Fest.
